This image is the cover for the September issue of Empire magazine 2017. It is a clear example of the use of advertisement of the Media of magazines. An advertisements main goals are to inform the readers about the product and to persuade them to but it. This is achieved through the use of different techniques, both graphical and literary.
Imagery
This advertisement uses imagery very effectively as it helps to attract attention. This is achieved due to the image being large and a central piece of the page. Furthermore, the use of an iconic character such as the Hulk makes it easier to convey the product as a wider consumer range would recognise the character. In addition, the image is place at the centre off the page and not obscured or hidden. The effect this creates is that the audience's attention is immediately grabbed and they are drawn towards the image, which means that they are more likely to buy the product. This informs me that the product is directed towards movie goers and action fans as the 'hulk' is connected to action comics and films. Furthermore, by using a very visceral image, it tells me that the product will contain conflict and violence, which reinforces the idea of it being an action film.
Text/Font
The font used in this advert is bold and large, which makes it stand out and easy to view. In addition, it is also incorporates trendy font styles, which makes it more aesthetically pleasing to readers and thus enhances the likelihood that they would by the product. Also, the text is placed on the middle of the page this makes it easier to spot and thus more effective in drawing in consumers. Furthermore, by using very limited yet essential and powerful words, the advert is able to convey it's message while not boring the consumer. It uses verbs such as 'Takes' which suggests force and thus actions which creates the idea of conflict and entertainment. Furthermore, by using superlatives such as 'Craziest' the advert is able to 'hype' the product making it more desirable.Due to the limited information provided, I can tell that the audience of magazines such as these are already fans of the product. The audience may already be well informed but might want to keep updated and the advert acts as a way to build up the product.
Colours
Colour is used, like the other features, to gain attraction from the readers. The advert incorporates bright, saturated colours in the page as these colours can be easily seen and are visually appealing. Furthermore, by using colours such as bright green, the colour actually helps compliment the visual of the advert. Green is associated with the Hulk and the use of green as a backdrop helps compliments this theme. By using a very limited colour palette of green and pink, the advert avoids cluttering the page making it confusing. Instead, the limited colour allows for a more concise and cohesive piece by which the colours help show off the advertisement.
